Management

Scott Romney

Scott joined the Waccamaw team in January of 2017.  His current role is that of Vice President/General Manager, responsible for the overall operational, financial, and safety performance at Waccamaw Transport.  Before coming to Waccamaw, Scott spent 10 years in the gas/oil field logistics and trucking industry.  During that time, Scott and his family lived and worked in Texas (San Antonio and Midland), Colorado (Denver and Grand Junction), Utah, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, and Oklahoma.  Prior to that Scott was a tire/quick lube franchisee with multiple locations in Arizona and Colorado.

Scott was born and raised near Atlanta, and graduated from the University of Georgia.  Scott and his wife, Bridget, have three children.

Hobbies include hunting, fishing, sports, and family.

Craig Morehead

As Director of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development for Waccamaw, Craig has successfully managed this vital part of our business since 1996. Within the petroleum industry, Craig has earned the utmost respect from his peers due to his long-time commitment and personal achievements. While in high school, Craig was already working in the family business at Morehead Oil Company in Newberry, SC. This family business was founded by Craig’s maternal grandfather in 1922. He made customer deliveries driving a short truck while also performing various duties related to their bulk plant activities.

While attending The Citadel, Craig played varsity football for the Bulldogs along with being an officer in the corps of cadets. After graduating from The Citadel with a BS in Business Administration, he married Trudy, and returned to work with the family petroleum business on a full-time basis.

Craig became very active in the SC Petroleum Marketers Association serving as President in 1989. Soon afterwards, he was approached and hired as Executive Director to manage the Association’s business activities. In 1993, Craig was hired as Executive Director of the NC Petroleum Marketers Association replacing the retiring Don Ward who served the association for forty-three years. Craig held this position until 1996 when he accepted an opportunity to become Director of Sales for Waccamaw Transport.

Craig enjoys attending sporting events with his family and friends. He is active within his church and is still trying to find time to complete some of his long standing “home projects.” Being a proud “granddaddy” also brings him much joy.

Jonathan Darden

Jonathan was first hired as a driver by Waccamaw in 2006, later he served admirably in a dispatch role, then, with continuing excellent performance, he was promoted to Dispatch Manager, and in 2013, he was promoted again into the Sales, Marketing, & Business Development group. In 2015 he became Director of Operations and Safety Manager.

After completing his schooling in Johnston County, Jonathan developed a desire to apply his talents towards future administrative duties and attended Wayne Community College. He became a truck owner/operator for approximately ten years hauling various types of cargo throughout the U.S. east coast region.  His next subsequent business venture was the role of General Sales Manager with a local automobile dealership firm that lasted three years.

Jonathan is very active in events with his church, and has a special affinity for their Awanas program; which is youth teaching with an orientation towards making lessons both fun and informative.  Additional interests include hunting, fishing, and attending and supporting his children at sports events.  Jonathan has an exceptional demeanor well suited to handling the rigors his job often entails.  He is highly respected by customers and employees alike.

Michael Mason

As Director of Safety & Human Resources since 2003, and under his direct leadership, Michael meticulously helped create and implement effective programs that revitalized our entire safety culture from the senior management level down.  The ensuing successes of his efforts enabled Waccamaw to be recognized for numerous industry safety awards in recent years.  Michael’s professional achievements include the special designation of Certified Director of Safety, through the North American Transportation Management Institute.  This is a very selective distinction from a highly reputable organization committed to improving highway safety.

Michael is an active member of the North Carolina Trucking Association – Safety Management Council, and the North Carolina Petroleum and Convenience Marketer’s Association.

 

Administrative

Tiffany Core

 

 

 

 

Tiffany began her career with Sampson Bladen Oil Company in March 2006.  In October 2017 she moved to the Waccamaw Transport Office.  Throughout the years she has worked in the Fuel Department keying in C-Store inventories, billing customers fuel and freight invoices, billing CFN invoices and processing driver payroll.  She is a resident of Dunn, NC.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband Brandon and two sons Brendon and Liam.

Sales and Marketing

Josh Breitenbach

 

Josh Breitenbach, was hired by Waccamaw Transport in October of 2013. Josh has a very diverse background within the petroleum industry dating back to 2008, where he first served as Terminal Manager with Piedmont Transport, and later in a similar role with Petroleum Transport Company.

His prior experience and contributions were quickly made apparent. Josh has excellent planning and communication skills, and both customers and our employees benefited greatly from his strong leadership qualities as head of the Dispatch Team from 2013 until 2017.  In February of 2017, Josh was sent to the Waccamaw Sales & Marketing Team, where he could use his experience in the operations field to help Waccamaw better serve its customers.  Josh is committed to the growth and stability of Waccamaw Transport’s “Golden Service” motto.

Josh resides in Smithfield, NC with his wife Chesley. Together, they support local economy by participating in events and purchasing goods from local establishments.  In addition, Josh is an avid soccer player with the Clayton Adult Soccer League in Clayton, NC.

Dispatch

Nick Crocker

Nick was hired by Waccamaw in the fall of 2011 as a dispatcher.  His prior work experience consisted of performing various customer service roles with agricultural and paint supply companies in eastern North Carolina.  Nick displays a natural exuberance for his job and he has made impressive strides towards learning the numerous complexities that exist within the petroleum and transportation industries.   He has adapted very well and always strives to accommodate and satisfy our customers at every opportunity.

Nick’s high energy level can also be found in his extracurricular activities which involves a lot of sports.  He participates as often as possible, and he is a passionate follower of Duke Basketball.

On this subject, Nick is quick to offer his opinions and predictions on upcoming games.  Nick resides in neighboring Wayne County.

Deric Phillips

Deric is an ECU alumnus with customer service

experience in internet troubleshooting and with various small companies.

He began working at Waccamaw in 2010 as a night dispatcher, and eventually

worked his way into the day shift position.

Deric is happily married

and the proud father of a baby boy. Most of his time away from work is

spent figuring out how to raise a small

child, learning how to cook, and trying to catch the

occasional movie with his wife.

Michael Weaver

 

 

 

 

 

Michael came to Waccamaw in 2017, bringing with him loads of dispatching and management experience. His work ethic is unmatched in the company and he always manages to keep an upbeat, humorous outlook even in the most stressful of situations.

His main interests outside of work are church, his children, and his grandchildren.

Angel Avalos

Angel has loved calling Johnston county her home for over ten years now.

She enjoys the comfort of small town country living, but can’t wait for the weather to turn warm and head to the beach.

Her biggest challenge in life is figuring out what is on the minds of her two teenage boys.

 

Since her time joining the Waccamaw dispatch team in Selma, she has worked hard to contribute to helping grow the night shift and its responsibilities.

She is definitely a numbers person and people person. Those two traits are what drives her love of logistics and striving to provide the best customer service possible.

Nicole Jones

Nicole Jones started her journey with Waccamaw dispatch team in early 2018. She is still learning and enjoys her work environment. Nicole has a background in transportation and is currently working on finishing her BA is Industrial Distribution and Supply Chain Management with a minor in Logistics. She is a married mother of 5 with 3 children enrolled in college at this time. She loves to work on community issues and with many charities in her county and abroad.

In her spare time you will see her on Leadership committee with Wayne County Relay for Life, at her non-profit YME (Young Mothers Empowerment) group, or working as the National 3rd Vice-President for her sorority. She also likes to travel, spend time with her family, and do extreme sports. Nicole is a country-chic girl with a big personality and loving spirit.

Maintenance

Randy Wood

Randy was hired in 1989 as the Maintenance Manager for Waccamaw and has since provided more than 20 years of exceptional service.  Everyone who interacts with Randy is quick to share tales of his impressive mechanical skills.  Whether the need is for routine equipment maintenance, rebuilding engines, or painting one of our trucks, his work is always of the highest possible quality.  Additionally, Randy’s ability to improvise under pressure is truly amazing, and he is an expert at making complicated machines out of ordinary things quickly.

Randy takes great pleasure in working with his church whether it is remodeling homes for the needy or cleaning up communities.  Along with his family, they often spend time traveling to the mountains or Lake Jordan camping and boating.  Randy also enjoys rebuilding automobiles.

 

 

Keith Whitman

Keith joined our Maintenance Department in August 1994.  Prior to his arrival, he entered into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea and later in the state of Washington.  He remained active militarily with the National Guard until 1993.  In addition to providing outstanding work at Waccamaw, Keith has been a part-time police officer since 1991 in the local community.

During his spare time, Keith and his family enjoy camping, boating, and like many other fellow southerners, he closely follows NASCAR racing.

Virginia Management

Ronald Toms

 

Ronald started working for Green Motor Lines and then continued with  Waccamaw Transport.  He started by taking care of the drivers and equipment, plus driving for a while. Then Ronald took over the dispatching about 8 years ago and has been in this capacity since then.  Ronald’s duties also include sales and customer service. Ronald has been with Green and Waccamaw for a total of over 15 years.  On the days off, Ronald enjoys the outdoors, camping  with his little dog and searching out antique shops and festivals. He is also involved with his church, as he is co-pastor.
